Wee outraged by Phang’s allegation
By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 – MCA Youth chief Datuk Wee Ka Siong reacted angrily to allegations made yesterday by Tan Sri Robert Phang linking the former with Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat’s free rides on private jets.

Phang was reported to have accused Wee of arranging the “maiden flight” that Ong took on the private jets owned by a company linked to the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal.

Wee (picture) blasted the Social Care Foundation chairman’s claims as baseless accusations.

“This is the statement made by Tan Sri Robert Pang ... I have said that I respect any individual who would like to support, openly or secretly, any leaders but to criticise an innocent person is not ethical.

“I know that he wants to support the president but he does not have to make baseless accusations,” he told reporters in Parliament.

Wee also questioned why a party outsider would criticise him and the party’s women chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.

“These are all creations and I do not intend to continue his story and I consider this matter as something cruel because they are baseless accusations.”

He added that since Phang was interested in MCA, then he should become a party delegate.

“As a party outsider, why does he want to criticize me and Chew Mei Fun? I don’t want party matters to be the subject of discussion for outsiders.

“Maybe he can enter and run and become a party delegate. When he becomes a delegate, then he can vote me out,” he said.

He also refuted claims that he was the mastermind behind the supposed “third force” in the high-level MCA power struggle.

“I think all of our leaders can think and have political wisdom. I feel that I should let them say what they want to say.

“How can we easily use other leaders as pawns in a political game when they can think independently? I feel this is an unfair and irresponsible comment.

“I did not target anyone. I don’t know why when I defend myself, then I become a victim and am accused of being a mastermind. This is a dirty tactic,” he said.
